Anyone have any tips for instaling new AMD sheetmetal on a 69 GTX. Full quarters, trunk floor, wheeltubs, exts. & filler panel. Any and all tip helpful!! Thinking the order will be the oppisite of removal.
Baseline measure everything. Knock off one side, from there you can more easily put in a one piece trunk pan. The AMD stuff is ok, but needs massaging. Test fit everything. A lot of guys pull all of it off at once, thats a different approach. Unless you've done this before, one side at a time gives reference, and, moving the Chinese metal to mate with the American original parts will help you decide where to mod it.
Best advice I could give you is go over and check out the member restoration threads....Tons and tons of excellent real time information on sheetmetal install/removal with all of the great projects going on.
I can already see the bend lines on the edges have to big of a raidus and will need attention. Had to do some trimming on the flanges on the wheel tubs to get them to mate correctly. I'm a tool and die maker by trade, maybe I should go there and see if they need someone to fix they're dies!!!!
