I purchased a new ignition key cylinder and matching key set for my 69 RR as the original keys were lost. I purchased the inner key cylinder from Classic Industries. I am wondering how i get the old key cylinder out and the new one in? Has anyone ever done this and how so? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but a related question. I have to wiggle my ignition key up and down to find the sweet spot to turn the key to crank, sometimes pulling the key in and out as well. Do I need the buy a new complete ignition cylinder or just the key lock inner cylinder?

I don't think so cause the key just allows you to turn the parts that actually make the connection. Here is a break down of a guy at FABO doing a rebuild, this is probably more than likely your issue. I too have the issue but not as sever as you are describing. I can actually see my voltmeter move when I shake the key and I just move it until it reads 14v and it starts right up.

Thanks for the link! I am hoping not to have to rebuild but may try sine graphite grease first.
