This just came in today, this car is rough, not as rough as my GTX mind you...but, rough! Paintshop101 said its going to be the second version of their 'Dark Runner' they made a few years ago. IRS LX rear end, 6.1 Supercharged, widened qtrs, custom tweaks here and there, yet I bet this one will be a slicker and more 'perfect' version.

Here's a fly-by underneath the car, as I said, its amazing the work that gets done out there!

Are those floor pans just sitting in there? Is it me or are they cut out and new/old pans just tacked in? :dontknow:

They are welded in on top, and mudded in top of that, but, underneath, yikes! Needless to say, I'm not blasting the floor, its getting cut out and a new AMD 1 piece is going in when I'm done blasting it.

JFC, do you suppose with lipage like that on the underbody it would ever rust out again?
Common sense is rarely common.

That video makes me grateful I own a solid core. Imagine what 600 HP will do to that mess when the hammer is dropped. That car was probably better off being parted out.

That car is in far worse shape than my current Charger project - not a southern car for sure. Perfect example of how not to make metal repairs. The good news for them is that drblast shouldn't have to many hours into it because of what is salvageable.

I hope we get to see it after blasting. poor thing , That front frame rail looks like mine,

Thanks for the video.

I'll take a same angle underneath fly-by as this one when I get it done, however, it will look almost the same as I'm not touching the floors.

It amazes me that some people don't start with a better piece. This things a TURD. Why go to the trouble of buying high priced, ill fitting aftermarket parts? There are still plenty of clean body's around. I've got nothing against some repairs, But why beat yourself up? Just my 2 cents.

Some people like a challenge and get satisfaction out of taking it from a rusty pile to a car again.

OK, I'll bite. Creampuff? Because they're soft in the middle?

"Creampuff" is slang for a (usually) unrestored car needing very little. Think survivor.

Just a little humor. Yes, I know - very little

badum pish, thank you, I'll be here all week

Ha, ha uhhh ha ehem.

I get it, thanks. I like my definition better, soft in the middle.
Like I said earlier in this thread, imagine what 600 HP will do to that thing. I have an extremely solid frame/body and I still crack sh@t when the clutch is dumped at 5000 RPM. The car in this post will probably vaporize.

Put it on one of my rotisseries yesterday (wow, hard to fathom that I now have three of them, and, they all get used) and as long as the frame rails are good (these are)(crossmember isn't too good in some places) and rockers are good, the car will hold up...This thing looks like the same thing happened to it as my GTX; when the floors are compromised, and its driven in a snowy climate, and salt is used, the 'spray' gets everywhere, even the friggin' roof! But, a previous owner had hacked into the roof and added a sunroof! So, water leaked in, along with salty slush water to rust out much of the inner webbing, as I said this car is going to come out 'interesting' to say the least!

It will be interesting to see it when you get done with it Donny.

Those floorpans... :urkidding:

Good luck Donny, the good news is you'll have one hell of a before and after picture haha
