Hi All!
What are your recommendations for a quality fuel tank sender? I've heard that the replacements aren't too accurate.
Are there any that seem to work well out of the box?

Not sure if mine is bad, or not. Doing a complete restoration and about to install the fuel system. I've checked it with a DVOM and it shows varying resistance as I move the float but from fully down (empty) to about half travel, there is no reading (OL) then it starts to vary resistance to the full position.

Any comments/Suggestions??

Thanks!

Get one from 521restorations.com. That's where I got mine and it's accurate, I believe I remember Jeff telling me he tests them all before sending to make sure they are accurate but don't quote me on it. You can also test them yourself with a multimeter, the procedure is in the factory service manual.

http://www.rockauto.com/i use the ones from spectra and have had no problems.just order one from rock auto.about as cheep a place as you can get them and comes in 5/16 or 3/8 line size.

I'm not saying Jeff doesn't test all his but I got 3 different ones from him and none of them worked right. They all checked out on the ohms but they are no where set right. I will be getting another from Spectra Are Quantas and see if I can get one that will work right. The last one I put in some times reads a 1/4 tank and sometimes 1/2 when I fill it up. Just have to watch my milage. Good Luck!!!! Ronnie

Lots of threads on this. Wish I had kept and used the original. Have not had an accurate reading since. Won't read full. Tried all the tricks, ground bending etc. No luck. Jotting the mileage and fueling every 150 or so. Good luck. Let us know if you find one that works.
