Right now I am having an issue with the right rear tire moving forward to rub the forward part of the lower fender. it only does it in reverse. I just put 29.5 in. radial slicks on it and now I have this problem and I didn't have the problem with 28 in. tires on it. It seems the the axle is moving on the right side but not the driver side. Any ideas for a guy that has taken everything apart and put it back together and found nothing wrong. All bushings are like new.

Did you check the fwrd leaf spring bushing/s, bolts, etc.?

How close is it to start with? Leaf spring? If so they will flex a little. If everything is tight shim the front spring hanger back a 1/4".

I would look at the leaf spring. Closely. I think its broken.

Slop in the spring center bolt hole in the mounting pad will cause that along with elongated through holes for the spring center bolt.

If everything else checks out good, install a solid or poly bushing in the forward spring eye. You should get rid of all the rubber bushings in a drag car anyways....

I've ran a bigger tire

sometime just a different style of rear springs/front brackets,
like ones made for either 20" or 22" front segments super/stock springs
longer etc., it'll move the springs back
&/or sliders on the rear of the springs or different style shakels,
will help you to ultimately center the wheels & tires better
makes for a better working car at times too,
bigger tires, better footprint, better/more rollout etc. etc. etc.

need to think outside to proverbial box

or get a set intended for 20" S/S front segments, they will be longer
than re-drill them for a custom application, if they won't work out of the box,
as supplied etc., make sure to check &/or shim for the proper pinion angels too...

you will have to check you drive length afterword too &
change accordingly, to fit your specific needs..

Mancini Racing sells both styles & shackles or sliders

MRE 66-70 Front Rear Spring Hangers for super stock spring $81.95.gif MRE AFCO racing leaf-spring-slider $95.95.gif

There's always more than one way to skin a cat/RR in this case
do some research/due diligence etc., call talk to them even...

good luck
