69 RR exhaust

H-pipe for 383?

Not sure why you're looking for an H-pipe for a 383. but accurate exhaust is one of the best, either them or Gardner exhaust (stainless steel). Be sure you know the casting numbers for the manifolds/headers you have.
you might know this but H-pipe is for 440 only, ask the guys who are going to be making your system which is the right for your car, don't want to be hacking it apart because it doesn't fit.

Just for everyone's info- yrs.& yrs. ago I bought an h-pipe system from NAPA for a 68-440 and everything bolted right up to my '68 Bee w/383.

How do you figure? H-Pipe is for a 440 only? No offence, but i have a tti h pipe kit on my 69 rag with a 383. And a tti x pipe kit on my 68 Fury with a 408 small . Block.
What gives with your statement

originally 383's didn't come from the factory with h-pipes but there isn't any reason not to go to one. i put a 2 1/2" tti system on my 69 r/t with stock cast manifolds. very easy install and fit was perfect.

Don't mean to hi-jack your thread, but I have a question about this topic. If you use 440 H pipes on a 383, wouldn't they hang down lower due to not being on a raised block? I always like my exhaust to be up as tight as possible to the floor pan without rubbing of course.

The TTI kits have an adjustable h pipe so they will work on the B motors as well as the RB motors. The original factory 440 H pipe was a one piece deal that would be too wide for a 383.
I just installed one on my 64 with a 361 and it works well. The 2-1/2" H pipe is a little low though, gotta watch speed bumps and crowned driveways.

droptop--I don't remember worrying about a low-hanging exhaust. Couldn't have been much lower than factory 383 exhaust.
