I recently rescued a 69 Superbee hard top that had been sitting outside for 40+ years. My current project on the car is getting all of the windows operating smoothly again. I was able to get the drivers side door glass to roll down about 2/3 of the way, but not without rolling the crank a quarter turn, then assisting the glass down by hand and repeating. The passenger side will only move about 3/8". The glass closer to the back of the door on both sides wants to go down, but the glass in the vent window channel wants to bind. Are there any tips or tricks to getting this moving? I have noticed on both sides that a thin, clear plastic material has broken down on the outer side of the vent channel. Could this be the culprit? I don't want to force on the regulators or glass and risk breaking either as the glass in the car is still in really nice shape.

Most likely that vent channel is all jammed up with that slider crap.

My Belvedere got to where the glass wouldn't go up or down and it turned out to be the regulator but after lubing it pretty good, it started working. I too could get it to move with some help but the glass wasn't binding in the channels though. Check the channels first and if they look ok then go after the regulator.

Thanks for your responses. I’ll use an inspection mirror tomorrow to get a better visual of the tracks and regulator. The material in the channel is in the attached image.

Outside for 40 years?
Tear the door glass and vent wings out and all the way down then rebuild them from the ground up correctly.
There is no method I know of to band-aid fix them. Put the work in and restore them correctly with new parts and lube.
Tons of threads on here to show you how to do it.

I agree with Runner 68. I recently purchased a 69 Super Bee that had sat for 10 years and the driver's side window wouldn't go down or up. After getting at it the channels were out of the glass. The only thing I would suggest to you is to purchase new glass channel and cat whiskers. The glass channel was only a memory of what it was supposed to be. They are pricey and a challenge to locate for a post car. Good luck.

Thanks for the information everyone. I'll plan on pulling the windows out the first chance I get. This is my first b-body so it's a learning experience for me. When my 'Cuda had a similar problem it was related to the rollers that follow guide channels.
