For those who have followed this story, I have an interesting update.
Still no color on the car. My bill goes down $100 a week. Its down $600 so far. I'm not pushing real hard, but give him a nudge each week. This isn't the interesting part.
I've been calling this guy for a week trying to go look at his 68 Charger. He lives about 10-12 miles away. We finally connected tonight. I'm going to look at the Charger Sunday. Well, us Mopar guys always talk about the ONE we had or got away.
He started telling me about a Superbee he used to own back in the 70's. I asked.. What Color, He stated Hemi orange. I said, to him - white tail stripe, white interior? He said YUP, howd you know. I said I own the car. .. He said NO WAY!!!!!. Now, we will refer to the 67 yr old gentleman as Bobby (his real name ha). I said.. Ok Bobby, lets make sure it's the same car but first let me tell you how I acquired the Bee from Warren. So I said Bobby.. What motor did the Superbee have in it? He said a 440, I said, correct. I removed a 71 440 HP motor out of it, which he said he removed from a 71 RR and put in the Bee. I asked if it ever had any body damage. He said he had a fender bender on the drivers side front fender. I responded I believe that, because there is an ever so small ripple between the 2 door hinges which I elected to keep for character and is hardly noticeable. He said he put on a 69 Coronet front fender. I said, but what about the fender tag? The SB has the correct fender tag on it, which he then said (trying to rewind 45 yrs ago), I'm pretty sure I remember taking off it the kinked fender and putting it on the new fender.
I'm still grinning from ear to ear 2 hours after my phone call with Bobby. Now - let me clarify.. Bobby bought it from the original owner in 1971, then sold it to a guy in Severn MD which I forgot to ask when, who then sold it to Warren.
Our planet is getting smaller, but the fact this Superbee has lived in the same 20 mile radius it's entire life, with the exception of being sold and brought up from Florida is super cool for my Superbee.
