I agree with Dave when it comes to installing a full quarter vs. a skin. I've done both and they're about a horse a piece as far as work, just two different animals. With a skin you're cutting precise lines, grafting in new metal and doing a ton of tic toc tic toc welding. With full quarters you're melting out lead, drilling out tons and tons of spot welds, playing the fiddle and fit game and then welding plug weld after plug weld.
I also agree with replace what needs replacing. A quarter rotted out or damaged on the bottom 2/3 would be a great canidate for a skin. The roof transition rusted through or the transition lip running down along the trunk gutters corroded to pieces would most definitely be remedied by a full quarter.
