I,d rather push my PLYMOUTH than drive a ford!!!:hatwave::banana::blahblah:

I recently pulled the pan on my 69 Coronet with 440. I have stock exhaust so just dropped the H pipe by removing 2 bolts each side from cast iron manifolds. Removed converter inspection cover (4 bolts). I pulled the bolt out of idler arm and pushed the linkage down. Made sure crank counter weights were high (crankshaft keyway was pointing straight down). Luckily the windage tray stayed stuck to the block! The pan took a little finessing and scraped a bit on the linkage but she came right out. Pulled the windage tray out seperately. If the tray comes loose with the pan it might be a handful. When I put it back together I glued the pan gaskets to the windage tray with black silicone, then set it up to block and held in place by finger tightening 2 pan bolts while I slid the pan back in. Removed those 2 and put the pan up in place and replaced all the pan bolts.
I'm not sure how you're going to change pickups with the engine in the car. Maybe someone else has an idea on that.

you wont be able to get the pickup out unless you cut it.

That's what I figured. You're pretty much going to have to raise the motor to change pickups.

Also, I didn't have to drop the exhaust for the oil pan removal, that was for removing the exhaust manifold. Sorry for confusion.

I,m kind of on a time limit here so maybe i,ll just save the pan swap for a winter project...I,ll just have to change the gaskets on the stock pan and windage tray for now...

Thanks for the info...
