blue dash lights.jpghalo lights.jpgnew dash.jpgshift light.jpg

my winter project
changed dash to white gauges
blue LED lights
convert amp gauge to volt gauge
installed updated circuit board for dash and tach
removed clock and made an aluminum face plate with air/fuel ratio meter and shiftlight that is adjustable with same clock adjuster hole
and some halo type headlights with relays

Fast % Furious. SRT NEON Meets old Mopar. Maybe if you ditched the wood grain

I'd probably ditch the wood, but I don't like that stuff anyway. Looks well fitted, mechanical or electric gauges? And how did you do the aluminum?

Not my bag since I like original appearance but it does look extremely well executed. Can you show some photo's of the 45 degree angle slits (lights?) doing whatever it is they do?

How did you convert the amp gauge to a volt meter?

And I like the Woodgrain dash accents.....always have..........gives the interior a little bit of class.......

kind of thought I would have mixed reviews, didnt expect purist would not like the wood grain, its what the car came with.
I had mixed thoughts on the blue lights myself, but wanted something to change it up, can easily be changed back. I tried to make it so every thing could be changed back to stock.
the aluminum was just cut from a piece of .040 I had. traced the old clock on to it. cut and sanded in to shape.
then printed up a sticker to overlay on to it.
still need to weld on the O2 sensor bung to exhaust before it all works.

Do you see wood grain on newer fast and furious cars? NO. It is all black or carbon fiber. Would grain does not mix

did not want to alter too much of the original appearance of car which has the wood grain across the entire dash and down the sides. not looking for the fast & furious. the wood grain is made from steel and aluminum panel.

so everything in car looks stock for now except the white gauges.

the gauges were faded yellow, so I used the white stick-on replacements to reface them. the blue lights are a trial for now, and can be changed back to any color at any time and only show up at night.
still have the old clock that could go back in if wanted.

removed amp gauge due to its history of causing melt downs and fires. the entire area around the gauge was melted and burnt.
splice both wires from amp gauge together as noted here on the forum to create a loop in the power feed. just modified a volt gauge to fit the opening.

If we were all looking for "Fast & the Furious" I'd be putting a chebbie 350 with a non-functioning blower in my Charger lol.

I like it but I agree it would look better without the wood grain (I've always disliked the sticker wood "looks cheap & tacky"). Hey, if you like it "that's all that matters" and who cares about original make it the way you want it.

I like it. Put a blue bulb in that gear selector and forget the purists. Restos all look alike!!

Like it! Especially the O2 sensor. Like everyone else, I'd switch to black instead of woodgrain. But lit up it looks great at night. Where did you get the white-faced guages?

How did you do the halo's on your headlamps, a kit?

well for the purist it has original wood grain, it is not a sticker, it is a silkcreen piece of aluminum like original ans cost about 600. I also would like black but this is how it was made.
for a future project I thought about sanding down the old dash to bare aluminum to give it a mill finished look, but thats another time.
the white gauge stickers are a kit you can order black or white vinyl.
the halos were a kit and required alot of hacking to light buckets to fit.
I bought a spare set just to modify.
I would recommend trying to use something more of a direct replacement instead.dash.jpg

Us Mopar fans are a bit different. Different is good!

That picture does it more justice, nice.

X2 on that. That pic looks much better to me but not that it matters

Also FYI I don't think most responses had anything to do with the blue lights .. it was the white faces but like 747 said they do present better in the last pic and I'm sure most of us are OK with what you have done for yourself which is all that's important. You asked for opinions and it's just not some folks bag .. not a condemnation from me anyway.

Now can you show me what the hash marks are for / do?
