70 roadrunners with airgrabber 383

does anyone know a number of 70rr's with 383 airgrabber?

I don't think there will be any way to narrow it down to the number of cars with that option factory. It is just like colors there are no known Chrysler records that break the cars down in to colors or other options. People like Galen that have there personal registry can break down the cars that he knows of but not the total production numbers.

I read somewhere that it was estimated that about 15 to 20% of 70 GTX's had the air grabber ( N96 ) option, not sure about Roadrunners but there is no way to know for sure.

What is hard is that so many cars have had the air grabber added to them. How many were factory cars? I was told by one guy that 383 Road Runners with the N96 option were pretty rare. I have nothing to substantiate that, but it does make some sense. If you had a limited budget then you bought the 383 Road Runner with limited options. If you had more money, you probably opted for the 440+6. How many budget limited guys would have sprung for the air grabber but not the 440?

It would be good to know the MSRP of the air grabber option vs. the 440+6. If there is a small difference, I could believe there would be low numbers of 383 N96 cars. If there is a big difference, then all bets are off.

Of course, the above is jut my speculation... :iamwithstupid:

About 18.1% of the RM21 cars ~ 2,676
About 22.2% of the RM23 cars ~ 5,188
About 20.4% of the RM27 cars ~ 134

About 20% overall for 383 and 440-6 cars. As the hood with standard with Hemis, I do not think they are counted in this number. I believe this would be for the ordered option N96 only. (so for a technically accurate count, add the Hemi cars to the totals above).

There's no way to know a breakout by engine.

It's not a common option but not 'rare' either.

I am also sure since AMD has came out with reproduction hoods and others have made fake fender tags that number has probably doubled. Lol.

So, just to play devil's advocate, what is the real difference with a 70 RR that came with the factory option of N96 or one that was converted to an N96 after it left the factory? To the purists, there is the N96 on the fender tag and other documentation. To the Mopar lover, you have a 70 RR with an Air Grabber !!!!! Would it make a difference in the value? IMHO, only to a car that is totally and 100% "original" or restored to it's documented configuration, and then only by a small percentage.

It's all in what you are looking for. According to Coronetrt's numbers, roughly 1 in 5 cars had the air grabber option from the factory. I would bet if you go to a car show now 2 out of 3 cars will have an air grabber. That's cool - I like them.

If they are very rare, that COULD translate into greater value for of the car (although in this case I am not sure it does). You may not think there is too much difference between a 71 Cuda convertible with a HEMI from the factory vs. one that was cloned, but the market sure as heck does...

Are they about as reliable as wikipedia numbers? Any one of these registries have their numbers down pat.
