Help please.
My 70 rr came missing its driver outside door mirror. By the state of the original holes it must have been forced off. In order to repair the damage we cut out the damaged section and welded in a new piece of metal. I have to buy a mirror and I need to drill some holes in the door.
Does anyone have a close up photo or can anyone take a close up photo of exactly where the mirror sits. Hopefully someone has a door they are doing up with the mirror removed.
All help appreciated.
Tony

Sorry about the ordinary lighting on the first pic but you can see where it goes next to the vent window upright. This is my 70 GTX, I think it came with a power mirror hence the big hole. But you can see the front post hole and go from there. Cheers.

monroegtx, I am very grateful for your fantastic reply, perfect photos. I am 90% sure that mine had the 2 holes for a remote mirror. I will make a decision on how many holes to drill based on the ease of obtaining either type of mirror.
Thanks again,

Tony

No worries at all Tony. It's not too hard to find the mirror you want, they sell repop remote and manual ones, as well as used ones I have seen on ebay. Look around first, the prices vary quite a bit. Good luck,

Glenn

Don't forget you can get parts from members here as well. I've purchased a few hard to find items from the guys on here, just post an add. :icon_thumright:

I just popped out and took a couple more pictures for you so you can gather the angle of the mirror. Also notice that there's a slight hump stamped into the opening forward of the large hole but the gasket area is still flat. I have two of these doors and they both have the same features. There has been no body work performed in this area.

Would it be correct to say that the remote hole is stamped into every door, whether or not the car is fitted with a remote mirror?

I believe that to be true. My 1970 Road Runner with a manual mirror had both holes. (My passenger door had no holes as it had no mirror)
