I have one that doesn't work.I heard thats pretty common.Does anyone have any input on bringing one back from the dead? Thanks in advance for all replys

First thing do with the tack out of the case is ground one the brass stand offs to -B
And with a jumper wire quickly tap +B to the tack coil wire this is not the terminals that stick out of the back of the tack you will see it once you have the case off. You should get a jump of the needle this test determines if the tack is any good if so you can purchase a new tack board from real time engineering. They are fairly easy to install if you can solder. I have actually tested one with a 12 volt battery charger also. I hooked a 12 volt dc supply to the tack with the ground being on the case and positive on the long stud. And the battery charger - to the case and the + to the short stud with the tab. Tach should read 1800 rpm

If you're running electronic ignition you're going to need the RTE tach board mentioned above. Very easy to replace.

If your clock isn't working make sure it has un switched 12 volts and a good ground. If you need clock repair and can't do it I'm your man

also like to add if you decide to go with the RTE tach board I highly recommend you get the one with the calibrater built in. you can calibrate it with 12 volts with no need to hook to an engine

The clock or the tach or both?

Does the tach work? The clock can probably be repaired it would be worth a shot since you have the parts to update it. Also has the ignition been upgraded to electronic?

No rebuild the dash and found out the wire going to the tach was not there.i had the car since 74 so I would said the wire was not every put on it.going to bed can talk tomorrow .Can the white be put on it ?

i replaced with a oemr unit tic tach tack,,easy hook up works great prob solved

Mine had a parasitic discharge. $400 to repair. It will stay broken for a few more years. No deals. Everywhere wants too damn much for either repair or replacement. Like steering wheels, grilles, and hoods.

I just got one on eBay and the clock is dead. I haven't tried the tach yet. If it works, Any options for rebuilding or replacing the clock innards? I tried to pull out the set pin and it came out.

I have a pile of tic toc tacs I would like to test, how exactly di

I have a pile of tic tocs I would like to test, normally I just install them in the gtx lol, but that's a pita...

How do I do it with a 12v batt chrger, I am very interested in doing this...

White wire....are you running an MSD Ignition???
If so, you will need the MSD Tach Adaptor kit - easy to add in - trust me, been there, done that.

Try reading through this tutorial for getting a clock working http://www.oldcarsweekly.com/restor...tting_the_ticktock_back_in_your_old_car_clock
and if that isn't any help, you can replace the mechanical parts with a quartz conversion such as this: http://www.whitegauges.net/products/Quartz-Conversion-Clock-Repair-Kit-R%2d3035.html

I bought a quartz conversion kit, but after cleaning and oiling my original clock it's working fine now.
