71 440 six pack SuperBee

So that brings us up to last month - September. By this point and 16 months of hard work, the body is done, the drive train is done, but there is a ton of nickel and dime small things that I spend the next two months on. The largest I just finished - the interior and the decals and emblems. I installed boom mat sound deadener on the floors and ceiling. Installed the new legendary rug, refinished the metal dash frame, rebuilt the gauges, installed all of the interior and exterior wiring, recovered the seats, installed the legendary headliner, package tray, door panels. Refinished the console and installed the shifter.

There was so much more in all there but that brings us up to today. I started and tuned the engine today - wahoo! She kicked over on the first try. I will get more photos of the interior - it’s amazing.
This is one very loaded and very rare Superbee. They only made 99 V code six pack superbees in 71 - the lowest production year and model of all six pack cars. Then it was loaded with options no less. I still have to install the windshield, bleed the brakes, do the final polish of the paint to clean up any mess that got on it over the past two months, install some shields, all of the glass trim has to be polished and installed and a few small things. I am hoping by thanksgiving I will be driving it down to get a wheel alignment and to take it out on the highway for a good romp

Thank you all for the kind words - its a labor of love for sure and an expensive one. Luckily I had quite a bit stashed away for just this purpose from another car I had sold to finance this one. I wasn't sure at first about the green but it is an original F7 dark green car - in fact the only liberties I took with this build was the frame connectors, the internals of the engine to give it a little more power and because it was originally a non power, drum brake car (I have this thing about liking to stop well) So, I added a PST power disk brake kit. Otherwise, everything is as built by the factory - it has quite a few great options. What really makes the color pop is the 6 coats of clear that were color sanded with 3M Trizact 1500, 2000, 3000, 5000 then polished with 3M Finish-it 3 step compound. The clear is deep, which really brings out the color - the pictures don't do it justice. There is no substitution for using the Tri-zact disks - they are expensive but they cut really fine, don't leave swirl marks, and last twice as long as the no name paper.

Very nice quality work. You guys had to work your ***'s off to get that beauty done in 16 months. I like it.

It was just me - the only help I got on this was the powder coating, the machine shop work and the trans rebuild. Many many hours - north of 1000 labor hours and north of $35k in parts and services!
I have another one that I am wavering on after all of this.
I have a 1971 383 4spd shaker cuda in B5 thats on the side of the garage under a cover. I am debating on just putting it up on Ebay to see what it fetches - if it does well - it goes and I take a break and enjoy this car, if it doesn't do well - then its up next.
