OK, has anyone tried this? I have a 73 Wagon with a 8 1/4, but I want to swap to a 8 3/4.

seems 71-72 axle is hard to find, around my area anyway.

Would it be possible to use the Mopar Performance offset hanger kit and swap in a E or C body diff? Both use 46" perch to perch.

My car has 47.3" perch to perch. Using the offset shackle and hanger moves the springs in .8" per side bringing in the spring centerline to 45.7. Is there enough "slop/play" if I stick to rubber bushings to accommodate .3" of misalignment? Any potential binding or accelerated bushing wear?

Throw an earlier b-body rear in it, with new perches. Many more wheels will fit.

You also need to look at over all width. 71-3 wagon is wider than any other B-body and is the same width as 72-4 truck and 70-3 C-body. Need to consider this and what back spacing of the wheels you'll need. Might try a find one of those and relocated the perches.
I have some truck 8.75 rears

Rear end widths, drum-to-drum:

A BODY
'66-'72= 57 1/8"

B BODY
'62-'63= 58 1/2" (And '64 Max Wedge)
'64 = 60 7/8" (Exc.Max Wedge)
'65-'67= 59 1/2"
'68-'70= 60 1/8"
'71-'74= 63"
'71-'73 wagon= 64 3/8"

C BODY

'65-'69= 61.75"
'70-'71= 63.0" (Chrysler & Fury)
'70-'73= 64 3/8" (and '69 wagon)

IMPERIAL
'65-'66= 61 15/16"
'67-'69= 62 5/16"
'70-'71= 59 3/4"
'72-'73= 64 9/16"

E BODY
'70-'74= 61 5/8"

A100
'65-'70= 61 3/4"

D100
'65-'71= 63 15/16"
'72-'74= 64 3/8"

Also, the 71 to 74 non wagon B axle is kind of hard to find and can be worth twice as much as an E or earlier B axle.

You may easily come out ahead selling what you have and finding an E or C axle to cut or move the perches on.

I'm going to have to be critical about axle width now. My intention was to order wheels after I get the axle sorted, but these just fell in my lap. Guess I'm going to have to do it the right way. LOL
