Hello,
I'm brand new here and I need some help. My father and I are in the process of getting our '71 GTX back on the street after being down for 21 years. As part of the rebuild, the inner fender panels were replaced. After we got the car back we realized that the fender tag was missing. We think it got scrapped with the old sheet metal. My VIN # is RS23U1R105743. I have used the VIN decoder so I understand that. I have the original bill of sale and it is dated Oct-29-1970. We don't have the build sheet or any other documentation.

So, with all of that being said. (sorry for being so long winded) Is there anywhere that I can go to find the info to correctly replicate the fender tag? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Matt

Matt, the answer is no. The only way to make a correct and accurate tag is to make a copy from the original.

Every plant had it's nuances as to how and when things were coded throughout the model year. You could pay a lot of money to somone to have an inaccurate tag made.

Ok. I didn't know if there was a database somewhere that would have the info on my car. The original invoice has some options listed but I don't know if this is all of them. Plus I don't know the build date or the original color.

Thanks anyway

Wow a fender tag lost in a body shop in 2011,I guess it still happens. You can have one made if you have the original window sticker.

The body work was done a few years back. We just realized it was missing a couple months ago. Unfortunately we dont have the window sticker. I'm pretty bummed out about it.

I printed out the list of 69-71 option codes. Is there a list of what options were standard on the GTX? As an example, my car has a S83 rim blow steering wheel and J64 Instrument Panel Woodgrain. Were those standard on the GTX model?
