I'm neck deep in restoring my 1972 GTX and purchased a during my never ending quest for parts I found a very solid 71 Satellite Sebring that I've been driving around and having some fun with until my 72 is back on the road. It appears that the 1971 Sebring has 1972 center caps and the my 1972 GTX has 1971 center caps. I want to confirm my suspicions before I switch them around. The caps that rise above the rim on the BF Goodrich tires are on my 1971 and the ones that sit lower are on the 72 GTX.

The cones are for the earlier cars. The ones on the bottom are '72-newer.

FYI, the later style centers do not fit well on the police rims. The earlier style will sit flush on the police rims. The later style will sit flush on the ralley rims.

Thanks , which ones are on Police Rims? I want to make sure I have the right combination on my 1972 RR GTX. I'm planning on selling the 1971 Sebring driver in the near future and I'm going to keep the correct rims and caps for the GTX project.

Generally speaking '70-'71 cars had the cone type centers and '72-'74 cars had the acorn style. Though my 74 Roadrunner definitely has the 70-71 centers and when I talked to the original owner he said that they were on the car when he bought it new....go figure! Just looked at my buildsheet, I have wheel code W21, which is Rallye Wheels 70/71. The code W22 is Rallye Wheels/Trim Rings. Possibly for 72+ cars?

72's on the 69. They were on when I bought the car in 1988. Personal preference.

the police rims in the bottom photo (in the original post) would not be correct for either car

The acorn style you posted a picture of look pretty beat-up. Might as well purchase a new set from BE+A if your knee deep in a restoration.

My 72 RR/GTX build sheet shows Road Wheels W86 with W11 covers. No mention of Rally Wheels at all.

Ill check my broadcast sheet
