72 charger 440/auto - trans slipping?

when you floor it and it gets to 2nd gear it starts out fine, but then the motor revs quick and feels like the trans slips until it gets to 3rd then its fine again.

any ideas?

Torque convertor lock up?

Maybe a plugged filter and or bands or low fluid... really could be anything I would try adjusting the bands and doing a service... see what it looks like in side... BB trans are so tough that it points to a rebuild if anything is a miss

Is your kick-down linkage adjusted properly?

If that's it and it's already slipping, you may be in for a rebuild.

yeah kick down linkage if you drive it softly what speed does it hit third gear by? anything much under 30 mph needs a bit more on the kickdown linkage. don't do anymore hard shifting till you sort it or you will burnout the tranny for sure! if it is not toast already. let us know how it goes
