Bought a 72 runner with 11 Drums and have hit a snag. Car had weld wheels that had 3 inch lugs pressed in and wanted to replace with factory rallyes using standard factory lugs. Removed the lugs and bought factory lugs knurl .673 to replace. So here is the problem, the 3 inch lugs which were pressed in opened the lug stud hole so when putting in the factory replacement .673 knurl lugs they slide into the front hub/rear axle and turn. Basically no need to press them in. So I am looking for some ideas on how to get through this mess without replacing the rear axles and going to disks on the front.

Thanks!

Poor mans way would be to tack weld them. Have you tried to get a bigger size on the knurled part and see if that will fit? Also, you could have them drilled and tapped for screw in studs.

Cut down the 3 inch studs? Lets face it as fact that the best way would be to fix the real problem of what the PO did. Did not say that you had to like it!

I think it is off to get some 3 inch .68 knurls from one of the online companies and cut them down to correct size. Should have thought thought this thru before trying to put everything back to factory specs/looks.
