72 RR Hood

Hi all, new to the site here. Just wondering if anyone could give me rough estimate on how much a 72 RR hood would be worth? TIA

I saw a decent one sell twice at a swap meet last year.

$300 the first time from the back row, then 3 hours later $600 from the front row.
 
I believe it's in perfect condition. It's been on my dad's car for a long time but he's switching back to the original Satellite hood. I thought I had heard that it was not available as a reproduction. He's got some guy he met at a car show that wants to buy it and cut a hole in it for a scoop. If it is indeed hard to come by I was going to try to steer him away from that if it would help someone with a true restoration.
 
ogodyes dont let someone cut a hole in a good RR hood.
im sure someone will give decent money for it the way it is.
 
Here's a pic on the car from last summer. Obviously not a closeup to show that there no issues, but I assure you it is flawless.

im not knowledgeable enough to give you an accurate price.
big bonus is its already a black hood,
if the underside looks half as good plus the badge plates too?
it Has to be worth some Good lootage,maybe? close to a grand?

your father has a beautiful cat there.
may i ask why he decided to go back to the stock hood?
 
He bought it brand new and has kept it in beautiful condition. Never re-painted or restored. Numbers matching everything. He's got a 67 Satellite in the same condition. I think each has about 40k-45k orig miles on them, both are 4 speeds. Lots of fun to drive on the few occasions I have gotten to.

He put the RR hood and badges on it in the early 80s when he was drag racing it so it could run at a lighter weight than when classified as a Sebring Plus. It then sat covered in his garage from about 87 until maybe 5 years ago when he finally pulled it out and started converting it back to a street car.

I think the only RR parts that he ever put on it were the hood and the badges. He had the front grill but never used it, sold it to the guy that wanted the hood.
 
I paid 650 for a mint one in org paint about 2 years ago.

That's pretty cool.

You would think a heavier weight class would be more favorable, like the attraction for racing wagons and convertibles.
 
It stayed in the same class but the RR must have weighed less. So the index you had to run would be easier to achieve with a lighter car.

It was entered as a RR not a SSP and stayed in the same class and could then also weigh less. While still needing to run the same elapsed time.

Each model has a specific weight based on factory numbers.
 
A friend has a mint rust free ‘71 GTX hood with turn signal indercators. Wants $500
