Hi all,
i hope you can help me out a bit here.
I have a 65 Coronet wagon here and it has the original cable shifter in it.
The transmission is from a 1970 model year with a shifter mechanism.
Is there any conversion kit available to make this work?
Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

John

You need a column from a 66. TS switch and lever are the same and probably the steering wheel too. I haven't heard of any adapters.

Imperial Services made a kit to put the lever-shift transmission in a column-shifted '65 but they seem to have farmed out the sales to other vendors.

Contact them at [email protected]

Thanks for the replies.
I try to see if i can find a 66 column with shifter.
Also want to try this imperial service if i can't find one. What is the reason they have a bad reputation?

Thanks.

People order and pay, then nothing seems to happen. It's like being stuck in "limbo".

Because the guy running it is unreliable and half a crook. If you can find what he has manufactured at another outfit or vendor you will be better off to buy from them. The thing is, normally the part will be back ordered and you'll be waiting forever for your order to be filled. Classic Industries is a place to find some of his parts and they will have it in fine print that they are temporary out of stock. So be careful when ordering anything with the name "Imperial Services" attached to it. It's a real shame because they are a quality product. Might even have better luck on Ebay from a reputable seller that is sitting on what you want that's made by Imperial Services. Or contact Joe Suchy.

Here's some history...
