727 torqueflite transmison

How do I remove the tailshaft from a 1962 727 tramsmison? I am waiting on a manual to rebuild this piece.Any help would be appreciated . Deereman

Remove the speedometer housing. Remove the tailshaft retaining bolts. Remove the trans mount. Remove the two phillips screws retaing the snap ring plate. Pry the snap ring open and remove the tailshaft.

If it is the old trunion syle and cable shift you will also need to remove the parking brake cover and remove the bolt from the center of the yoke in addition to the things Rusty described
