Got a 73 charger se that original came with a 318 do I need to get relocating motor mounts? Or do I just need a good set of big block mounts to drop in a 440

You will need adapter mount s or a big block k frame

just drop in a 440, It would be awesome if it was that easy, lol..

You will need k frame complete and motor mounts, then the real fun begins, radiator, tranny, drive shaft, suspension parts, + + +...

I would start with the k frame and some HD front suspension parts to gt it in there, then tranny and driveshaft, then cooling and wiring...
good luck..

Yah I have the 440 the 727, mounts, custom drive shaft, aluminum rad pretty much all but the mounts,
i just heard many opinions on a new K member (hard to come by) or normal big block mounts or relocating ones, I know shumaker makes a nice set, just tryin to not have to buy something I don't need

Schumacher makes a set that'll work just fine for you. Be sure to read the instructions and make sure you have the right oil pan. I had the wrong pan, but found one on CL for $10 so it's not a big deal.

You will need a new radiator, trans or bell housing, to modify your driveshaft, replace your torsion bars, etc. Also you'll need a all new accessory brackets if they didn't come with the engine.

it is that easy

mine came with a small block 727, so the driveshaft is the same as a BB. I am using the 2 core radiator it came with and works just fine. same with the .96 torsion bars. I am using BB motor mounts spaced 1 inch forward. its not as complicated as some would suggest.

You're lucky to live in CO. First swap I did here in FL I barely made it from the shop to the house with the two-core radiator. That 440 was so hot when I got home I couldn't shut it off due to dieseling and I swear I could hear the oil boiling in the pan once I did get it to stop.

LOL , yep 2 core , fan shroud , 7 blade clutch fan , 180 degree thermostat , runs all day around 200 even in traffic on 90 degree days.

Well I got my motor mount kit, I'm just now doing the cutting and grinding to set it all up and then hopefully I can drop in the motor tomorrow. I have a high flow pump as well as headers, I've seen a lot of scary things happening with this kit on the forums so hopefully all works out!
