Wondering what small block oil pan you guys are running in your 73-74? I currently have an 8 quart Milodon and have all sorts of clearance issues with k-frame and steering center link. Looking to make a change but it would be nice to hear from other small block guys what works best or what they had to do to get good fitment. Anyone have the Milodon 6 quart road race pan or the 7 quart street strip?

BTW..... My "little" 440ci R3 small block makes over 700hp and spins up to 7500rpm so, a stock pan is just not an option.....

I had a 76 F-Body Volare Road runner. Had the same spool mounted k-frame as the 73-up B-Body.
Mine had a 360 in it.
I 'm sure the Kevco pan will work just fine with your application.
Don't forget to update your k-member mounts with the solid ones from Firm feel.

Thanks for the reply..... She’s been solid mounted for a while now and full of Firm Feel goodies.

A @#$@#! of an oil pan that's made me take off half the car apart just trying to get the damn thing off...with no success yet.
360 engine stock oil pan on a 74 charger.

OK guys what did you come up with? I have the Milidon 7 qt pan and I'm about to try to install it in my 73 roadrunner... looks grim. but its all I have

An update on my experience with installing the Milodon 7 qt low profile oil pan.
IT FITS!!! But I did need to notch the K frame on the passenger side next to the motor mount, just a 2" square section. Enough space to run my finger all the way around between the pan and frame. I hope the 500HP does not twist the engine around to much on stock motor mounts.
My K-frame is beat to hell, and I plan on replacing it some time down the road. So I did not block it in. If I can get one race season on it I will be happy.

OK new update... My steering rod that connects the right and left sides is hitting the oil pan on a hard right turn. I have been pondering on how to fix the issue. My Dad wants me to peen the oil pan with a hammer to ding it in. I am not so sure I want to do that. I have been thinking about a way to bend the linkage. Heat it up with a torch and use a vice to put more of a bend in it? I am going to the shop tonight I'll snap a couple of pics, to see what you guys think.

Id rather find a way to lift the engine a little than to modify any steering components... JMHO
The back of the pan is vertical and the steering linkage hits dead center of the back. There is no possible way to lift the engine for clearance. What I did, was take the steering cross bar off and peened the oil pan in where it was touching a 1/4 inch. I now have clearance around the pan.

well without the pics of where it was hitting I only had to guess it was the bottom of the pan at the back where most of peoples interference issues arise. :)

*except those trying to use big block 187 pans on 73 and up bbodies then its the K frame and the front of the oil pan sump. 971 pan is pretty much the only bigblock pan for 73 and up (without modifying the K that is)
