I bought a 1973 Charger SE several years ago that was an older restoration. I have included a photo of the alternator brackets that are currently on the engine (400-4BBL W/AC). I did quite a bit of research (online, FSM and Parts Catalog) but still cannot determine if the brackets are correct for this motor. When mounted to these brackets the alternator is skewed (the pulleys are not parallel to the AC and crank pulleys. If anyone out there has an original 400 w/AC a photo would be greatly appreciated!!!

Those are correct for an AC car. What do your pullies look like? They could be wrong.

Are there supposed to be bushings behind the upper bracket? The upper and lower brackets both mount to the same surface on the alternator but the upper bracket mounting surface is inboard (about 1/2") of the lower bracket. There is not enough space at the rear of the alternator top mount to install the small spacer bushing (1.062 long).

Here is a side view of the brackets, note how the mount surfaces are offset.

Which is correct. Look at the pic above, The alt is in front on the top bracket and behind on the lower. Looks like you have a non AC lower pulley. Should be 4 groove all the same diameter.

Correct, that is on the crank (4 groove).

It is if you want the fan to spin. Are you planning on keeping the AC? If so you need everything posted. If not find non-AC brackets and pulleys.
Yes I plan on keeping the AC, so I will need the idler pulley

Anyone know if there is a spacer required for both mounting positions on the lower bracket between the block and the bracket, mine only has one on the water pump side?

You will need the offset spacer behind the pulley too.

Just a washer. Mounts to the top front engine mount hole.
