You will need the offset spacer behind the pulley too.

As mentioned on my previous replies… not for 73 and lates. The iddler pulley setup for the water pump belt is up to 72 where water pump and steering pump runs their own belts. On 73 and lates they share the belt, so the steering pump works as the iddler for both.

The steeering pump bracket is completely diff for these, and makes to sit deeper into engine bay (same height than the water pump). Water pump pulley and steering pump are aligned also.

This change made to change also the water pump housing with passenger side outlet to get clearence for the steering pump… everything to fit the air pump (on C bodies) over the steering pump.

Blocks also change, with a casted and threated bosss provision for one of the steering pump bolts.

Here is a side view of the brackets, note how the mount surfaces are offset.

The top and bottom brackets are not alligned on AC setups. On AC setups, the top alt mounting ear fits IN FRONT of the bracket, and the adjusting bolt bracket of course in front of alt.

What looks bad is the slight “twist” of the bottom bracket

My understanding and from what I have seen is the belt change is 74 and up. 73 uses the same style as 72.

No, changeover happened between 72 and 73
Thanks for your input. Thought I had it figured out, but when the alternator hangs from the top pivot bolt it is/looks misaligned. Appears that it needs to tilt down at the front but can't the way it currently is. Do I have the correct upper alternator bracket? Any input is greatly appreciated.
