741 case and 489 case

I have a 741 case with a sure grip in it and i have a 489 case with 4.10 gears in it can i take the posi out of the 741 case and install it in the 489 case with out any issues

Nope, different pinion sizes and styles.

yeah my rear end builder is saying the suregrip want work in the 489 case he said its about 1/8 short on each side from fitting, whats the deal ?

I kno the gears want work but everyone is saying the suregrip will but he says it wont WTF ? HHHHEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!

sounds like you need someone that knows mopar rears becuse he doset know what hes talking about............

Well idk the guy builds rear ends for Nascar so i would imagine he knows his stuff, Idk im kind of pissed off with the whole or deal, I called mopar performance and they even said the sure grip would work in the 489 case so idk

I would find another rear end builder, ................I have re-built many, many 8 3/4, ...trust me, ....the Sure Grips will interchange , the Gears will not.

No offense, but, that's what you get when you have someone that builds 9 inch rearends, they just dont know MOPAR.

I have a 489 case with 4.56 gears but the spider gears are were welded.
Im getting a 741 case with 2.94 gears thats one wheel peel.
If the sure grip can go in both cases then i sould be able to use the 741 case spider gears in the 489 case to make a 4.56 one wheel peel 8 3/4 right???

I will also use a solid crush sleeve instead of a standard crush sleeve.

You cannot interchange the gears .

i would think the spider assemblys would interchange also. only ring, pinion and pinion bearings are different.

hell with it i bought all new bearings and stuff for the 741 case 3.91 gear and hes going to put it back together for me and im going to buy a spool for the 489 case 4.10 gear is there a spool u guys would reccomend ?
