741 case and 489 case

Going back to that guy, you got balls bigger than church bells...lol!!

No offense but they all say they will pay until something happens .But good luck i hope it works out for you with that builder

Cranky - if I bought a whole new 489 center chunk with gears in it already - would that bolt up to my 741 rear? The seller states that the 489 already has the "smaller" yoke.

The housing under the car doesn't care what chunk it has in it. Here's the names it has. Chunk, Chuck, Pig, Center unit but the correct name is 3rd member. The 3rd member is the part that has all the guts and is ready to bolt into the axle housing.....the thing that's under the car and is bolted to the leaf springs. There are two different size yokes. One is the small one and the other is the large one. 7260 and 7290 u-joints. Actually, there are 4. One for the fine spline and one for the course spline pinion gear. All 8 3/4 axles are the same spline....at least since the modern times. Don't know much about the pre 66 rears.

Having a Ford guy work on your Mopar, is like having Paul Bunyan do brain surgery with his axe. lol

fixed :D

bunion is something you find on your feet at your toe joints.. Bunyan is the folklore hero :D hehehe just teasing
