In the sales brochure I have it says the Road Runner option comes standard with a 318 and 3 speed manual transmission. There are options in the brochure to get a 400 or 440. The footnote on the 440 says you can't get a manual 4 speed. Does anyone know if you could still get the manual 3 speed in a 440? Also there is no footnote on the 400 option regarding transmission, so could you get the 400 with a manual 4 speed. Just curious. Also why if you could still get a 440 in 1974 why did they drop the GTX badging? I'm guessing because you couldn't get it in a 4 speed manual.

They made approximately 386 RR-GTXs in 1974.
Okay so they are RR with a 440 option and only with an automatic and they slapped a GTX emblem on the hood.

The GTX as a separate model ended in 1971. From 72-74 the GTX was an option on the RR which included a 440 with automatic only, and GTX emblems.

I'm pretty sure that is a simple, and unintended, typo. (and corrected....)

That would imply that a '72 440 four speed RR was not badged a GTX and there is such as thing as a 'GTX option'. There is an engine option that included a GTX badge but not a specific GTX option that can be selected.
