I wanted a larger torsion bar for my 318 Belvedere II since I was putting a stroked 400 in it. After some research I chose Mopar Performance # 5249158 which I understood had 780 & 781 bars at .920. Today I get my order # 5249158 from Summit but it has 784 & 785 T bars which are .960. I want a smooth ride without hitting the bump stops on every little bump, but I don't want a "cog wheel wagon" ride if you know what I mean. My question, is anyone using the .960 T bars and how do they ride? I know the answer might be somewhat subjective.

There is not a great difference the .920 will be stiff.. The weight of a all iron big block should make it handle softer than a dead x wagon... sway bars make it stiffer... if you have those... the big bars are for cornering and the light ones are for getting the weight to the rear axle.

got the .960's in my 383 67 coronet.rides great.much smoother then i thought it would.

I like smaller T-bars and bigger sway bars. Good ride with the smaller T-bars but it still handles well with the thicker sway bars....and even tho sway bars do stiffen the ride some, it's not that much.
