7qt oil pan for stroker - Milodon or kmj

Milodon with kick outs is the best choice on a street car unless you like repairing holes in your pan..

Hi, The KMJ pan looks good.Price is right. Is this motor going in a street car?what are your HP,TQ estimates, I've away's felt that the oiling systems on our big blocks is good but could use a little help on a hp build.Increase the pickup size.
As per the Mopar bible on hi performance builds, the norm is to inlarge the pickup tube threads from 3/8" to 1/2" NPT HEMI pickup size.
some guys use a hand drill, the problem with this is with a drill is that the new threads are real close the edge of the casting, and you run the chance of it cracking the block when tapping new threads. To do this correctly it should be offset drilled in a with an endmill in a Bridgeport machine then tapped.
Solution, plug the 3/8" pickup boss and run a Milodon #21001 setup pictured below. This dose two things, 1, you don't have to increase thread size and take the chance of cracking the block 2-the oil pump is sucking oil threw a AN-12 (3/4") low restriction hose. this is one area that over kill is not a bad thing.on a stock motor necessary? no but on a hp build I say yes if this is a mild build that pan while be fine but have the pickup size increased by the machine shop.
I assume your going to run a windage tray, 4.15 stroker cranks require a different tray than stock. Dose KMJ sell a stroker tray for that pan? I've always use Milodon . never had any issues with there pans or parts nice heavy rails.jig welded I use on my 493, the 30931 low profile pan.
I would recommend a skid plate. pan will hand down past the k-frame a little. Mancini racing sells them. I'm shore others will say stock pickup is fine maybe but why take a chance on your investment.just my thoughts. good luck.

#21001

STOCK COVER SINGLE LINE SYSTEM
A simplified system that is great where space is tight. Using a stock oil pump cover allows this system to be more compact with no need for a separate oil filter adapter. Will supply adequate oil supply up to 7000 RPM when used with Melling M63-HV high volume pump. Use with Milodon #30931 low profile or #31015 deep sump style oil pans. Works for both Wedge and Hemi engines and all motor mount

great answers, thanks. I didn't think about the kick outs and I just dropped the front end..street car. Probably stick with 3/8 pickup. The milodon package from Mancini with the melling hv oil pump is looking good now with the Halloween discount.

goal is 600hp/tq but realistic 500 crank. Will be limited by intake choices with an n96 hood. Right now I have a street dom which is not that great but its low profile on the rb. Shop is going to port match with the alum heads, we will see how it does. Going to dyno with an 800 avs and 950 holley after break in. Maybe try different intakes?

OK, I am starting to agree with you. I am going to do 1/2" pickup and maybe this pan from milodon:

I like the 5.5" depth on this one, but the full oil pan package for the standard kicked out 7qt 7" depth pan is only 330 dollars with halloween discount from mancini including melling pump, gaskets, windage and 1/2" pickup, whereas the road race pan is 400+ dollars by itself.

I have a Milodon on my Cuda and it works fine. Be aware that the drag link may contact the sump on some aftermarket pans when steering is locked left or right.

What is this Halloween discount code you speak of.. I need the external pick up road race pan.. Have a 7 qt external pick-up pan if wanna buy it, slightly used, dyno run only..

FYI.. i just put a 7 quart Milodon (508 cu in) on my '67 coronet. it does hang down there (actually lower than the TTI headers). I will build a small skid plate to ward off any trash (big bricks) in the middle of the road.

put in Halloween when you place the order. I ended up with the kick out 7 qt milodon oil package. I really wanted the road race pan but its just too much money and looks like a tight install.

I ended up getting the 3/8" milodon pickup. The boss for the pickup does not look like it will hold up to a 1/2".
