im in need of a sure grip for a 27 spline 8.25.. i know alot of jeeps and dakotas had them from factory, but what year model did they switch to 29 spline?

What you spend to set up the gears again up grade to 8 3/4 or 9 1/4
modify drive shaft then you are good for ever

I am fairly new to Mopar, having just completed the first phase of my 1970 Satellite. I see this response a lot, and dont really think it's the answer for everyone. My Satellite is an original 318 car, and while I plan on rebuilding the engine for reliability and a little performance, the 8.25 will hold up just fine for about 350 flywheel hp, especially with an automatic, where you will see about 25-30% parasitic loss to the rear wheels. I'm having my 8.25 27 spline rebuilt with 3.91 and a Sure Grip. I'll let you know how it goes. Didnt mean to hijack the thread. It's just that 8.75's are very hard to find around my area and incredibly expensive if you do find one. All the best.
