Does anyone know if an 8 3/4 rear end with a 489 case use an oil slinger. I am rebuilding mine and there was not one there when disassembled but just wanted to make sure. Thanks to anyone who responds.

An oil slinger?? Perhaps I'm not getting the picture.

Uh, nope!

On some rear ends between the pinion seal and the bearing there is a metal washer. Purpose of the water is to redirect the oil away from the seal to help prevent leaks. Technical name is oil slinger. Just wanted to know if anyone rebuilding this diff had a washer present after the pinion seal.

Thanks for the help

Must be a chebby rear. Mopars doe not have one.

Most all diffs have them, if you don't it's not a problem, you can get one if you want

I wouldn't call it a slinger but more of a defector.....
