I just installed a Quick Performance Truetrac in my 74. I see Doctor Diff no longer carries them for the 8 3/4 due to reliability issues. I have installed these in a few Fords and never had an issue. Maybe I should have went with the suregrip. Has anybody had issues with them.

Since I have one of these purchased from Dr Diff to put in the Roadrunner, I'll be following your responses closely!

I went from a 8 1/4 to a 8 3/4. I installed all new bearings and seals. I didn't use green bearing because some people had issues with them. I got my truetrac from quick performance and the forgot to include the spacer that goes between the axle ends so I couldn't adjust the axle end play. I thought it would use the thrust buttons like the factory unit. If I had used the green bearings it doesn't need it. Still waiting on this part. It should have been here yesterday. I was supposed to be headed to Ocala Fl today for the Mopar show/swap meet today. One little part was a big set back.

I run a tru-trac/helical diff behind a 600+ big block, drag radials, hard shifts and lots of street driving and it's been great for coming up on 7 years now. No noise, no skipping or chirping around corners and lays two stripes as long as I stay in the throttle..

I have a TruTrac in both of my cars, both 741 rear ends. One behind a stout 440. Never an issue with either of them. I'm still running factory taper bearing so I am using the included steel button. 2 nice strips of rubber will be laid down.

bumping this old thread instead of creating a new one
I m about to change the differential on my third member
I just realized i didnt make a mark to carrier bearing caps to make sure i ll put them back the same way they came from.
What is going to happen if i mess them up when i put them back on wrong ?

if the caps are switched side to side you will not be able to adjust/turn your threaded spanners in easily , just put the caps on the case with the bolts and look at the threads in the case to see if they line up ,, then you can install the threaded spanner and they should turn in by hand if not switch the caps and try again , it will be pretty obvious that the threads don't line up.

Okay that was my assesment.
I was afraid it could be something more insinuous that could have deeper repercussions
