Yes, but unless you are good with a gouge tip, grind them off is the best way.....with a level take accurate readings of how the spring perches sit on the axle at rest before you cut off. You need to replicate that angle when reinstalling on the 9"... a magnetic level and pictures are a great way to record the angle.

Thanks for all the info guys! Does anyone know what the width of the 8 1/4 in my car is suppose to be? It's a 73 charger I just want to make sure my measurements are correct. From the inside of the flanges on the 9 it's just over 58"

There are multiple 8-3/4 that will fit and no need to be adapting this to that... Even with a free' 9" to start with you will be making a new driveshaft and routing brake lines and whatever else turns up. Will the wheels fit? more money to buy new or?

Well the plan was to buy new wheels anyway, and since this is a ground up restoration brake lines etc are getting redone anyway. Plus I needed a new driveshaft anyway

What I did is I got my tire and wheel combo, and put them under the car and measured rim to rim. There is your measurement right there on what the rear end needs to be.

This sounds like a better fix to your problem. At least call them and see what they have, their phone number is listed in the contact box, and get a shipping quote from them too.

Well my "best option" doesn't have an 8 3/4 any closer than Georgia. I'm in south Mississippi by the way. So now back to the rear end that I do have than can be adapted to fit.
