OK it's a 99 Durango with 5.2 and 4x4.
My dtr drives it to school 5.5 miles round trip each day. Today I went out to run an errand after she got home and noted the brake lites on x3.

No keys in, no other lights on. Started it. pulled out of garage and forward and back again. Back to park. Depressed E brake and released it. Even put my hand under the pedal and pulled up on the E brake.

Still have both side brake lights on and middle tail gate light on. Noted one bulb looks out in 3rd light.

Gotta pull the battery cable or might not start tomorrow. Have not driven it in the neighbor hood yet. Drove around the side streets for about 5 miles. Rolled forward from a stop when I took my foot off the brake pedal and when I got back home the rear drums where only a little warm.
Brake lights still on.
No warning light on the dash comes on either.
Thanks for any ideas U might come up with.

The brake light switch is broken internally need to replace it it should be mounted under the dash around the area where the brake pedal arm is mounted. It's easer to have some one show you where it's located.

more than likely brake light switch.follow brake pedal arm up under dash and you should see it,will look like a plunger.next time lights stay on,unplug it and see if they go off to test if that is problem.

Hey guys, just got back from a meeting and while I was gone I guessed a faulty switch also.
Pull the ground and will check it out tomorrow. Thanks.

I've had the switch come loose before...not on a Durango tho.

Loose switch! Me too. 95 Ram. Switch broke and popped out of the bracket. 2 tie-wraps and 200k, still ok!
