digging through an old box of crap, I came across a cash receipt for a 20 dollar deposit on my GTX ....... and a small bottle of mercury

I do remember them days too, buying MoPar's for $350-$1,500
all day, everyday in or surrounding the Concord Ca. area/East bay suburbs
circa 1974-1979-ish, most were in great shape too, many were B-bodies
1968-70 Charger R/Ts (12) & 68-70 RRs (13) or even Super Bee's or 67 R/Ts too
I wish I had a time machine, when A-bodies were damn near given away...
Just old used cars...

$20 would get you 2 bags of groceries too, now not even a 1/2 bag

I used to play with the stuff...... roll it all around on a table top, and back into the bottle..... might explain a few things

We used to roll mercury around in our hands in science class. Then again at YMCA camp I made my father an ashtray out of asbestos. That probably explains a lot about me too.

That's what I paid for Baby Blue in 1983. My original paint, number matching 1970 GTX was $1500 in 1977, daily driver for four years. At the time, that was about a month's pay.

I was looking for a box in my basement with a few old photographs, I thought this was the one when I found it; but it's not........I didn't know this particular box existed........ I live in the house I grew up in. Evidentially my Mom kept a bunch of stuff; report cards from grade school, birthday cards, ect........ there's another receipt for a 68 vette I bought for 5K, a mint Barry Sanders football card that might be worth a few bucks, a personalized autograph from Reggie White, news paper clippings mentioning me scoring my second hat trick of the season on a soccer team........and stuff from old girl friends the wife need not see........ I'll take this box out to the shop where I can sort it out in peace

Timing of this thread was amazing. As I was reading it, my wife came in and told me today would be a good day to go through my old trucking records and start getting rid of the piles of paper I no longer need to save now that I've hung it up. Dug up old settlement sheets showing $1000 a week when I was a company driver for three years in the 80s. That's more than a lot of guys make today. Made my car habit possible.
