A-833 trans 23 spline

my trans has this side cover on it,its 1968 date on it, has anyone seen this cover on a a -833 trans before?i usually see the cover with the spring attached,i was debating if this one is more dependable or less dependable than the one with the steel balls in the middle,thought

s,opinions. see pic below of what i have.thanks

That type does have the steel bearings in the middle with a spring & sleeve between them.

Here you go. That would be correct for 68 cover.
