On my 70 Charger disc brakes were put on at some point, but the rear proportion block was not added.
Instead of adding that block would an A- body valve bolt in? Seems it might be easier to do.
as long as it matches your set up its fine. front disc/rear drum or 4 wheel disc.prop valve just needs to match.you could also use an adjustable prop valve to the rear.makes it much easyer to adjust custom setups.
Yeah I thought about the adjustable one....but then I need to cut lines and buy a flare tool etc.
It's been a LONG time but seems Ive used an A-Body porp valve in the past and it bolted right in. ??
When I bought my 70 Charger, it was a 4 wheel 10" drum setup. I added the front disc brakes from a 75 Dart including the Dart master cylinder, brake vacuum booster and linkage, "Texas" proportioning valve, spindles, calipers and rotors.
The prop valve from many if not MOST 73-76 A body Disc cars is shaped sorta like the state of Texas.
When i switched to rear discs, I removed that Texas valve and put in a basic distribution block that has no proportioning action.
That "Texas" valve was used on 71 and up B and on trucks way into the late 80's/early 90's.
I also believe they are all the same and the actual proportioning is done with piston and cylinder bore sizes.
Just tossing this out there.......since the A body is a smaller/lighter car compared to a B body, I would think just using the A body specific proportioning valve wouldnt be right to use since the bias is made for such a lighter car and therefore the braking will not be optimal.
