Finally have all the components on hand to begin assembling a replacement system for the original a/c system. Everything is brand new. The new compressor is Sanden model SD5S14. The instructions state that the " New Sanden compressors are shipped with all the oil required for a normal OEM system for which they were intended." I have also read to drain the new compressor and measure the contents. I was aware that this process is involved and can take some time to completely empty the compressor. Sanden states that .5 ounces will remain in compressor as a coating and should be added to the amount drained. Grand total equaled 4.5 ounces.
So, 3 questions: 1) Does that seem to be enough for the whole system? 2) How much goes back in the compressor? 3) How much goes into the remaining components? Sanden does not give a breakdown on these steps.

As a general rule.

About 1 Oz each for condenser and evaporator.
.5 or less will stay in lines and dryer.
Rest goes back in compressor

The original system with the RV2 compressor was factory filled with 10 to 11 ounces of oil. 6 to 8 should remain in the compressor after it has run. Myself I would add 2 to 3 ounces as long as all the other components and new and completely dry.

O.P. says he replaced the RV2 with new Sanden rotary compressor.
