Good morning all. After 6 long years of resto(mostly body work)the '70 Satellite was finally shot. The sealer, paint and clear was Axalta, and the etch and high build primers were both Transtar. The high build sanded beautifully, and went on very flat with 15% reducer. The rear cross sill, cross sill extensions, trunk, trunk drops, quarters, outer tubs, front floor halves, and inner and outer rockers were all cut out and replaced. Most welding was done using plug welding the old drilled out spot welds, with my Lincoln Mig 140, using. 023" wire and Stargold gas. Nice hot flat welds. The trim along the sides of the car were deleted and the holes plug welded. Other than the paint, installing the front windshield, the exhaust, and the wheel alignment, the whole project was done in my unheated garage during summers when the temperature was good for bodywork. Overall a couple of amateurs learning as we go did ok. Can't wait until it's back together and ready to enjoy.
