Been cleaning up an estate and it had a couple of sets of Chevy heads. One set (14102193) is iron and from what I found on the net was used on 305's to 350's from 87-95 and imo, are more or less just door stops and will throw them on my scape pile. But another set is alloy (12551561) and the net says they were used on a 1996 350. They are 2.00 intake and 1.55 exhaust. Are these something that shouldn't be added to the scrap pile?

the heads from 1996 are probably LT1 head the second rendition of them
like in the Z's & T/As 275-315hp IIRC
earlier cast iron ones, unless they are Vortec heads, most aren't worth much,
unless you have a 'smoger era' malaise era, mid-later 80s Chevy/Buick/Olds/Pontiac
early 90's, that used them & need one to match another, boat anchos
(I don't know the #'s off hand, which is which)

Someone might want them. I think Budnicks is right, probably LT1 heads. 1996 could be a couple things, but my money is either on the last gasp of the full size 350 powered Impalas or might be like a one year only Corvette thing. Probably, for the era, about the best head you could drop (factory) on a 350 if you were going to do minimal other upgrades.

Not sure how much demand there would be for them, but if you wanted to advertise them for sale I bet you could get a couple hundred for the pair if they are loaded and clean, post the casting number and that you think they were off an Impala SS or a 96 vette and maybe someone will give you a call. I would take what is offered, chebby guys are just as likely to buy one of the cheap and readily available -100's of options- aftermarket heads as try to stay factory. It is a small block chevy after all. But some youngster fixing an old square body truck could swap and get some nice HP for instance.

Idk most guys ditched everything GM for the LS , you can get big CID engine for less then some stock LS engines.. Kinda like some Mopar guys do for the G3 hemi...

There's still lots of people out there that build on a small budget though....I think....I'll find out if anyone is out there still trying to enjoy some sort of higher performance on a budget. I know I was one. Bought lots of stuff from swap meets and a lot of it was still new in the package and as the internet came into being, used that too.

I get it for sure I have no problem with old vintage parts and many times prefer them.

Are you sure they are not Votex heads? Seems I remember Votexes came out in the mid to late 90's. Those heads added like 40 hp to old school sbc just by themselves and I think they would be of value to a lot of folks.
