A little trivia about a star from the Dukes of Hazard.... I had no idea...

In 1985 when I was racing in the world championships in Akron Ohio (I was 10) they brought out a bunch of celebrities of the time to hang with us kids for an afternoon and have lunch.

He was one of them, but he stayed in character and was a really good time. Nellie from little house was another, Webster another, fella from CHiPs was another.... a handful of others but if I remember correctly these were the bigger names.

Sorrel Booke was also a true 'method actor'. If a scene or part called for something, he didn't fake it. In the Dukes diner scene where he said he ate raw liver for breakfast, he was actually eating raw liver.

Along the lines of "when men were men" I saw an ad for Band of Brothers and (having watched the series before) thought to myself "yea...we won't ever see THAT again..."

Sad...

Dad served in Korea too. Cdr-USN(ret), 4 campaigns, Navy Intel. Didn't really talk much about it till his last days. Wow. Stuff like "the SAS guys took my holster one night, and dyed it black. They told me the brown was going to get us killed."

I still have the holster, and the Colt 4" Official Police .38 it carried (dads brother was FBI, told him on a trolley car in Buffalo one day "you'll get a 1911 from the Navy...keep this as your backup. Always." And handed him the .38, right there. I still have the sales receipt, too - from a hardware store).

Interesting back story on Booke. Good stuff.
