A question for the sure grip pros

My suregrip surely don't grip all the time. Seems like about half the time I'll get one tire that breaks loose on hard accel from a dead stop. Seems like they both grab at first but then I lose one, one breaks free and I'm up in smoke with one tire...

I don't know anything about the suregrip. Are there clutches in there or something that might need to be rebuilt?




Woops, I wish I knew how to delete this, I asked too soon. I see all kinds of info down in the drivetrain section.

There are two types of suregrips. The cone type is usually found in the 489 case. My understanding is when the cone type gets worn out the carrier needs replacing. The second type which has clutches is found in the 742 case. The clutches can be replaced.
