A word about Scammers

Hey guys can someone check out Mr rio2 , a new member that says he has the valve covers I’m looking for and for me to text him or email . When I asked how much for the valve covers he replied $ 445 dollars and I said no thanks, then he contacted me back and ask if I was interested how much would I offer. This was today. I haven’t contacted him after that.

Mr rio2 doesn't show up as a member.

Got this odd sounding message yesterday based on my WTB post. Member is new as of yesterday. Fit pattern of previous scammers. Per profile stats he has been in conversation within the past hour, so still working it.

Have you checked with Fraser in 22043 via [email protected], he has 62 Savoy 440 Mopar mega block wants to part with. I purchased items from him in the past and they arrived in top condition.

How can you tell if it's a scammer? I got a PM from the lubafenniman guy this evening. What the heck are they looking for? Sorry for the stupid questions.

How can you tell if it's a scammer?

Mostly we just get a sense of danger from what they post...the rest is up to technical wizardry.

I'm embarrassed to say I 'sorta' fell for one of these scams. But when it became apparent my money was going to a financial institution I had never heard of, I pulled my head out of my ***. I contacted Joey and he confirmed the scam. Joey also did NOT make me feel dumber than I already felt. Rather he asked how HE could better protect me from my own stupidity. Thanks Joey for your help and professionalism, and not making me feel like a complete idiot.

Hi all. I was contacted twice, to two separate ads I placed on WTB to contact a friend who has the exact part I am looking for. I never paid a dime to anyone. It just didn’t feel/sound right. Good job and thank you FBBO for the warning and picking up on the scam.
