Having never really messed with an auto transmission, I was wondering how difficult it is to install a shift kit in my A904?
Thinking of putting the TransGo Performance Shift Kit TF-2 in it.
I have rebuilt engines and rear ends many times but never dived into an auto trans.
Is it a "follow the directions" or a can of worms?

it is not hard, they have everything in the kit you need with detailed step by step instructions. follow those instructions and you will not mess up.. i promise.

now.. if you want a reprogramming kit that does not require drilling the valve body, B&M makes a decent kit that will get you a 1-2 chirp with no problems and is cheaper. i have done both and have not noticed a huge difference.

X2 on the no big deal part. Just don't be a slob and pay attention to the instructions. I think you will do just fine.

If you want a firm 1-2 shift, pull the valve body out and there is a big spring underneath it, the accumulator piston spring. Remove this spring, measure it and cut a piece of pipe the exact same length, clean well and deburr the edges. Iron pipe is just fine, it should be the same diameter as the spring you removed or a hair bigger. When you put the valve body back in, substitute this pipe for the spring. For all those who will not like this method, it is in the Mopar shop manual.

Adjusting the line pressure regulator up a little will also help, turn the allen screw so it increases the pressure on the springs, don't overdo it, a turn or two will be ok, if you raise it too much you will get an annoying buzz in reverse.

While you have the valve body out, I would recommend replacing the seal that goes around the shift lever shaft housing in the case, you have to remove the valve body to do it, and it is a very common leakage area.
