I'm in the process of constructing a replica/duplicate/clone of one of the original factory `65 AFX B-body cars (Belvedere) and am looking for a supplier of the door panels. I've heard about a guy named Gary Ball who used to make these, but about half the posts were quite negative with a somewhat "stay away" flavor. I'm not desperate (yet..) but would like to locate a supplier. I though I had seen at one time where Legendary interiors made these panels but their web site is so slow as to making an on-line search very difficult. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve

Hi and welcome aboard!
Thank you for joining the forum.
I see your from Texas.

Steve, i personally can not answer your question 100%.
However,
I have called Legenary numerous times and I have had wonderful experience with their customer service.

There is another "avenue" that may work.
this place is out of Detroit.
Original supplier of ALL Auto interiors during the 60s and 70s.
I'll try to find the number/web-site.

I know this because they have the Levi interior that I need for my 77 AMC Gremlin.
They MAY have the original "Bolt" of fabric needed or vinyl

Again, thanks for joining the forum.

I have known Gary Ball personally for a number of years! I have never heard any negative reports about him or his work! he is a one man operation so if it's said he's slow that's the reason! he does quality work and has reasonable prices for his interiors unlike some others that use inferior materials or do shoddy work! The old saying is You get what you pay for! I've had several SS interiors done and I honestly can say I've no complaints on his jobs!

SMS out of Washington State is the Supplier for legendary.
You can go directly to SMS and skip over legendary. I probably have their address if you can't find it.
However whatever company you go with you will probably need to supply your own metal tops for the panels.
They are hard to come by for sedan.

I'm a dealer for the A990 interior including the seat covers. pm me and I can hook you up and turn around time is only 3 weeks maximum

Our door panel are made with the same exact cardboard thickness of the originals. Copied exactly, you can not tell the difference.

My intent was not to badmouth Gary Ball as I have no direct personal experience with him. My comment was just based on web search feedback, which as you know tends to emphasize the negative and ignore the positive.

When I first opened the FBBO forum and read your response it looked like there was a hotlink attached to "Gary Ball" - at least it showed up in bold red. But when I went back in a second time, it was just plant text. (As you can probably tell, I'm not very computer literate...). Do you have a link/contact for Gary?
Thanks,
Steve

Superstockracer or someone else
can you tell me what color/paint code the top part of your dash is? It looks to be that fawn/goldish(sorry I forgot the real name) color interior but the top of the dash gets a different color.
Sorry didn't mean to derail the thread but I thought it was supposed to be two tone then I noticed the dash in the picture.
Thanks for your help

That is really good to know SSR. I've wanted to put even a remote amount of interior in our altered since we built it but I seemed to get sidetracked really easy with "go-fast" parts.

Do you do the entire door panels and including the upper metal part or just the covered cardboard part?

if you supply me the upper frame rails I can do it for you for a fee. It takes time to get it right. or you can do it yourself, we supply the vinyl material all di-electric patterned and the perfect thick to thinner cardboard backing with or without the holes cut out for the door and window handles.

Yes any color you like.
i'm getting close to do my 5 black dodge in the original red interior.

No problem, it was just a quick google search but I'm sure there are more out there.

I have used door panels for sale for the sedans. With the upper metal.
If you don't have the metal tops you can not just install the cardboard panels.
PM for pricing.

Gary Ball makes the upper supports from fiberglass if you don't have the original metal ones
