Wondering if using the Prestone Super Flush is OK to use in my 97 diesel pickup or is there something better or....? Next will be the Dakotas.

I like this stuff. It flushed out my old cast iron block and removed all traces of rust in my cooling system. Did it before I replaced radiator..., I was suprised how well it worked.

^ What Evan said. I drained the coolant, flushed with distilled, then refilled with Thermocure and distilled and ran for 3 days. OMG it cleaned the rust out of the jacket. It will take a good flushing after that, remove the block plugs each time or do with a hose. It comes out dark green/black and I flush every other year.

Run the G-05 coolant with alum. radiator.

Yep, don't forget to drive around for days with the thermocure in there !

newer trucks and cars have rubber seals for heater core and rad be careful that the cleaner doesn't eat the rubber and make a leak . i would drain and flush with water then add the cavitation additive and the o e m coolant that is recommend.

Does it have lube in it for the water pump? Did a flush years ago and after driving around for several days, the pump started leaking.

Well, with the old junk I have, don't think that'll be a problem lol

my 1998 dodge 3500 had a heater core with rubber sealed tanks .

Well....my 97 has plastic tanks on the radiator so probably rubber seals on that too?? When someone says 'newer' cars and trucks, I don't think about something that's 23 years old as being newer lol

I try CLR as it seems more evrio friendly and people use it on bathrooms and the uprite showers to clean rust marks from hard water.I use it to soak carbs in if they are a little rusty from our ethanol gas especially the marine carbs works great

new to me is 1994 and newer as i have seen the biggest changes in service procedures from that time as i s o came in play starting then . o b d 1 started then and now we are at global o b d for all vehicles.
well i have been a 2x master A S E tech, for 40 years and seen a lot of changes from the 60's and still perform all types of repair . yes your rad with plastic tanks has rubber seal's so be careful of what you use. see what mopar out lines for cooling system service.

Read up on this very topic several years ago. Can't remember exactly if it was General motors, or Mercedes might have been gm because if dex cool situation, which ironically is what fiat Chrysler uses now. Anyway they were using high grade citric acid powder mixed in water for system cleaning. Supposed to clean very well.

I'll be getting some thermocure today.

I've been fighting rusty coolant in my Dakota for about 15 years.
I'm on my third radiator and 5th water pump.

The Satellite has a less severe issue but I'll be doing that one too.

Last year I tried CLR and although it brought out a lot of rust, it didn't fix the issue.

Like already posted above.
This stuff is the best I have ever used.
My 440 motor home engine was rusty inside. I ran 2 jugs { 1 jug for 3 gal system, I used dbl. figuring block ect. } of this and water with out the thermostat for aprox 1 week. The crap that came out at flush was crazy.
Ended up having to flush , refill with water and drive then flush ,repeated 4 times to get clean water.
Still clean a year later.
