Vintage air or Classic air??? any info is much appreciated My charger is a factory A/C car and I have all the parts for it but I would like to go to a more modern system.

I have heard people talk about both systems. Personally, I bought a Classic Air system since they had a perfect fit system for a B-body. I think Vintage may have just put a specific kit together for B-body's - not sure. Without knowing any real specifics about the Vintage system, I would lean towards the Classic Air system since they have had more time to work the bugs out of their kit.

I am happy with my Classic Air kit so far. My car is undergoing restoration, so I can't speak to how well it works yet. If you want to check out details about my Classic Air system installation, go to my restoration thread. I think the A/C related posts are on the first couple and last couple pages.

Classic Auto Air here. Ice cold for 9 years, no recharge. Non AC car though. Vintage has better distribution in my pals 'Cuda. Mine uses the original cable control box.

I love your car looks great!! good luck with the restoration!

I just purchased a new A/C systems for my factory air 72 SSP. Instead of converting the old system I decided to convert over to a newer style system. I purchased my system through BPE.

I spoke with both Vintage and Classic but they didn't offer kit for my 72 B-body. I would have had to purchase a universal kit and adapt it as needed. So far the kit from BPE has bolted right on without issues. BPE offers kits for both factory A/C and non-A/C cars.

Below is photo of the compressor installation that I just completed about a week ago.

I bought Vintage Air mostly because I liked their servo motor operated evaporators but went universal because I wanted a clean customized install. I've yet to install it and need to decide on a pulley setup, I like the looks of yours but am having trouble making sense of the belt routing? Is that an idler pulley causing the water pump belt to go to the passenger side? Looks nice, I'll check out that link.

Sorry for the hijacking

Yes that is the idler pulley routing the water pump belt over to the passenger side.

This is the location I'll be shooting for on mine.

Bouchillon also has a mounting bracket for the other side if you want to run a power steering pump. I used it for my car and it fits well. The only down side is you cannot run a factory fuel pump - you have to run an electric fuel pump. That worked fine for me since I was adding fuel injection anyway...

That's my option if there is interference from the dry sump oil pump. I won't be using power steering.

I like the vintage for cars without A/C and the BPE Hidden kit. Friend put the classic kit on the Mustang and has had nothing but problems. I have to set up my Daughters 74 Dart's A/C, already installed the BPE mount..

I went with BPE & Vintage Air on my 360 small block in my Dodge A100 Pickup truck;

Blows Hot or Cold...whatever I set it to. :headbang:

Sorry 'bout that Dr Smith :p
